The Atchison Legacy: A Century of Industry and Play
Charles "Chuck" Atchison lived the American Dream in its truest form. Born in 1936 into the hardships of the Great Depression, Chuck learned the value of a dollar and the precision of a machine. After serving in the U.S. Air Force and dedicating decades as a machinist for Colgate-Palmolive, Chuck spent his life building what can only be described as a "Museum of American Progress."
This is not merely an estate sale; it is the final unveiling of a 13,000-square-foot archive. From the precision-grade tools of a professional machinist to a few remaining investment-quality tin toys from the 1930s-1950s, Chuck’s collection reflects a man who appreciated how things worked—and how they brought joy.
Chuck "won" the game of collecting. Now, it’s your turn to own a piece of the victory.
Featured Auction Categories:
The Project Car Vault: The centerpiece of this finale is the 1969 Mustang Mach 1 R-Code (428 Cobra Jet), a true Holy Grail car for Ford collectors. Joining the Mustang are a 1940 Ford ½ Ton Pickup (327 Corvette powered), a 1971 Volkswagen Super Beetle and a remarkably solid 1953 Dodge B-4-B Pickup featuring dry Arizona desert patina.
The Motorcycle Hoard: A "time-capsule" collection of vintage two-wheelers including Honda Scramblers, a Sears Vespa, and Royal Enfield projects. These lots represent decades of stored potential for the vintage bike restorer.
The Machinist’s Parts Archive (30+ Shelves): We have cataloged the final 30 shelves of Chuck’s professional-grade inventory. This is a high-density collection of New-Old-Stock (NOS) and rare original components specifically for 1935–1941 Fords and 1949–1954 Chevrolets.
The Intellectual Archive: A massive library of automotive and industrial history: Truckin’, Cars & Parts, and Fine Woodworking archives, alongside vintage Playboy and Maxim collections spanning decades.
Industrial & Yard Americana: Beyond the cars, discover the tools that built the legacy—including a Weaver Motor Service Press, vintage industrial lighting, and a collection of mid-century metal tricycles (AMF/Murray) and yard art.
