For Bill and Angela, a passion for automobiles didn't just shape their lives—it started them. By the age of 10, both had already fallen in love with cars in their own unique ways. Bill built a functional wooden car from a Popular Mechanicsdesign, powered by a lawnmower engine. Meanwhile, Angela’s paper dolls didn't just have standard wardrobes; they had matching car cutouts clipped from dealership advertisements, ensuring every paper doll's dress perfectly matched her ride.
That childhood spark fueled a 60-year marriage and a shared livelihood dedicated to the automotive world. Together, they spent decades restoring, painting, polishing, and selling car parts. Their shared passion allowed them to build a vibrant community of friends across the United States through their active involvement in prestigious national and international clubs. These included the Early Ford V8 Club of America, the International Ford Retractable Club, the Crown Victoria Association, the Lincoln Continental Owners Club, and numerous Thunderbird and Mustang clubs.
Their contributions to the car community run deep. Bill was an early member of the Slowpokes Street Rod Club of Peoria, Illinois, which proudly hosted the very first Street Rod Nationals in 1970. Later, Bill served as the Chief Judge for the International Ford Retractable Club for four years—a prestigious role he undertook with Angela right by his side, commanding the field as a true team. Sixty years later, their legacy of grease, chrome, and deep friendship remains a beautiful testament to a life well-driven.
