Motorcycle Overview
Arlen Ness was one of the most influential custom motorcycle builders and designers in the world. Often called the Godfather of Custom Motorcycles, he rose to prominence in the late 1960s and became a legend in the chopper and custom Harley-Davidson scene. This particular bike was a very early Arlen Ness conversion based on a 1962 Harley Davidson Sportster customized in true early chopper fashion with the chrome extreme raked forks, the custom fabricated and painted tank and the etched crank case and zero instrumentation.
The 1962 Harley-Davidson Sportster was part of Harleys K-series-derived XL line, which had been introduced just five years earlier in 1957. By 1962, the Sportster had already established itself as Harleys high-performance street bikeleaner, faster, and more competitioninspired than the heavyweight FL models
