1971 Harley-Davidson FLH By 1972, and probably earlier, back in Memphis Elvis had bought and rode regularly a White 1971 Harley-Davidson FLH Electra-Glide. In 1969 Harley-Davidson had introduced the detachable windshield fairing kit as an option, more commonly called a batwing fairing to deflect more wind off the rider and by 1971 it had become a standard feature. It was basically a shell and in the early years contained no instrumentation like those of the modern bikes. Elvis didnt seem to be initially too keen on the fairings since the few bikes he bought in those years before 1976 didnt have them. For consignment, a classic 1971 HD FLH. This beauty has been stripped of the front fairing and sports a sexy purple paint job which we refer to as Chameleon as it changes colors to blue tints depending on how the light hits it. Telescoping Triple Trees Jammer billet forks rise to chromed handlebars with tear drop mirrors on either side. A single Too Cool halogen headlamp lights the way and is in the middle of the forks. Black leather covers a two tier Arlen Ness seat by Danny Gray and of course that purple Chameleon paint which changes as you walk around this bike. Progressive suspension is made with rear shocks, and brakes are all 4 piston caliper brakes. The rear brake is a Joker Machine billet aluminum chromed work of art and just next to it are 2.25 inch White Brothers porkers . An 80CC V twin motor, all polished and nice sits in the center of the frame and is adorned with plenty of chrome. This motor is fed by a 1 barrel S&S Super E Shorty Z carburetor, and the chain with a 1- 1/8 inch back up 136 tooth belt drive is on as a backup, and is driven by a 4 speed manual transmission. Plenty of customizations also in the form of Arlen Ness flat band diamond handle grips, and these top Wild Ones Chubbies which are 1.25 inch diameter and have an 8.5 inch rise to create baby apes. The dash and Sunrise speedo are CCI. Front turns are Daryl Hayes CCI and the rear turns and frame are from Badlands and these are named Whiskers . Beautifully customized and the paint is to die for.
