Motorcycle Overview
1973 Honda CB750K
VIN: CB750-2200388
One could make a strong case that Honda's CB750 is the most influential model in all of motorcycle history. When it was introduced to the public in 1969 a total of eight major British manufacturers were producing motorcycles. However, by the time the CB750's run concluded in 1982 all but Triumph were gone, and Triumph itself was on the ropes and would breathe its last just months later. The CB750 is the only motorcycle to lead a changing of the guard that would wipe out the entire British motorcycle industry.
The key to this dramatic industry shift was a bike that was dramatically better than anything that not only the British, but anyone else for that matter, had to offer in terms of sophistication, comfort, and reliability. Powered by a SOHC 4 cylinder motor and a 5 speed transmission, it featured an electric starter, hydraulic disc brake, a smooth vibration free ride, 13 second quarter mile times with a top speed of over 120mph, and 60,000-100,000 miles of low maintenance trouble free riding.
The highly original 1973 Sunrise Orange example that you see here was purchased by the current owner in 2005 with just over 30,000 miles on the odometer. In 2007, at 30,600 miles, the engine was freshened with new rings and valve grind and the front wheel bearings were replaced. In 2011, at 30,856 miles, the bike was serviced and a new seat cover and exhaust system installed. New tires were installed at 32,400 miles in 2015. The bike has been carefully maintained and sparingly ridden in the ten years since, and the odometer currently shows 32,715 miles. (All maintenance and repair records are provided with sale.)
