The 2016 Yamaha XSR900 was the debut model of Yamahas Sport Heritage line, designed to blend the high-performance heart of the FZ-09 with a classic neo-retro aesthetic. It successfully replaced much of the FZ-09s plastic with authentic aluminum and metal components, giving it a premium, hand-finished look right off the showroom floor.Performance and EngineThe XSR900 is powered by the celebrated 847cc liquid-cooled inline triple engine. Known for its Crossplane Concept crankshaft, it delivers a unique blend of mid-range torque and a screaming top-end pull.Power: Approximately 115 hp at 10,000 rpm and 64 lb-ft of torque at 8,500 rpm.Electronics: Comes standard with ABS, Traction Control (two levels plus off), and D-Mode (A, Standard, and B throttle maps).Clutch: Equipped with an assist-and-slipper clutch, which reduces lever effort and prevents rear-wheel hop during aggressive downshifts.Chassis and HandlingYamaha addressed common criticisms of the FZ-09 by giving the XSR900 firmer suspension settings for better stability and control.Weight: A nimble 430 lbs (wet weight).Seat Height: At 32.7 inches, it sits slightly taller than its FZ sibling, providing a more upright and commanding riding position.Brakes: Features dual 298mm front discs with radial-mount 4-pot calipers, offering strong and predictable stopping power.
