Scissor gears on the primary and balancer assemblies reduce noise. The crank counterweight is shaped specifically for couple-balance, and its reduced mass allows the engine to rev freely with low inertia. A deep oil sump contains 3.2 liters.

Bore and stroke measure 67.0mm and 66.8mm respectively, with a compression ratio of 10.7:1. Striations on the piston skirt expand surface area by creating gaps for improved oil flow and lubrication. An AB 1 salt-bath treatment creates a protective oxidization membrane.
