Motorcycle Overview
The 2026 KTM 250 XC is a two-stroke, fuel-injected cross-country race bike that features several refinements for the new model year, including a revised chassis and updated graphics.
Key features and updates for 2026
- Revised chassis: The chromoly-steel frame and aluminum-reinforced polyamide subframe have updated shock mounts to reduce weight and provide more responsive flex. According to one review, the chassis was made stiffer, and the engine was raised slightly to improve stability.
- Updated fuel system: The bike now includes an improved sealing system for its fuel injection, as well as a more robust protective cap for the CPC fuel connector. This helps prevent accidental disconnection and keeps dirt and water out.
- Cooling system: The radiator cap has a new threaded design that is easier and quicker to open.
- New graphics and color scheme: The 2026 model features new very orange graphics with purple accents on the tank shrouds and fork guards. It also has a black frame and seat.
- Enhanced wiring harness: The wiring harness has been re-routed and has new fixation points for improved durability and resilience against the elements.
- New tires: Dunlop Geomax AT82 tires are standard, replacing the previous MX33 front and AT81 rear tires.
- XC-specific components: As a cross-country model, the 250 XC includes off-road gearing, a larger 2.37-gallon fuel tank, a side stand, and handguards.
Engine and performance
- Engine: The bike is powered by a 249cc, single-cylinder, two-stroke engine with a 6-speed transmission and Keihin EFI throttle body.
- Electronic features: A handlebar-mounted map select switch allows riders to choose between two engine maps, with Map 2 offering a more aggressive power delivery. An electronic exhaust port provides improved rideability and engine control.
- Suspension: The 250 XC is equipped with a WP Xact closed-cartridge spring fork in the front and a WP Xact monoshock with linkage in the rear. The suspension offers tool-free adjustments for both high- and low-speed settings.
- Brakes: The bike features high-tech Brembo brakes with lightweight wave discs.
